Goals - The Adviser Insights

Once your client has completed the goals activity, it's time to determine the best fit portfolio for goal achievability.

Navigate to the client you wish to view. On the client page either click on the 'Goals' tile, or navigate to the bottom left tab 'goals and preferences'.

Here you will see each of their goals listed, along with a projection modelling tool, which is designed for you to walk through with your clients.

The projection will have all of your own model portfolios, based on the capital market assumptions, expected return and volatility that you or your firm provided to Capital Preferences.

Each bar shows the expected outcome for reaching this goal across the different portfolios.

You will see the horizontal line in the projection is the goal target, and any portfolio bar which is above this line gives an indication of goal achievability. The orange bar reflects the lowest level of risk required to reach this goal.

If your client has also completed the Risk Activity, you will see a green bar which shows the portfolio your client is most comfortable in.

With your client, select on the goal tile you want to review.

Go through the fields on the left of the graph, and edit/adjust any of this data. This tool allows your clients to visually see the potential likelihood of achieving their goal across each portfolios, guiding both you and them on if they need to take more or less risk and how comfortable they will be in doing so.

On pressing Update we run 10,000 Monte Carlo simulations that forecast how their investment will grow over time. Goal achievability percentages reflect the proportion of simulations where the client achieves their goal by the target date.

Once you have decided on a portfolio for this goal specifically, select 'add investment' under 'selected investment risk level' and use the drop down option to select one of your portfolios. You will do this for each of the individual goals.

Following this select 'generate report' to save any changes, then 'view report' to print or download a copy for your files or to send to clients.
